Funeral services for Louis (“Lou” or “Louie”) Downing, 69 of Porter, MN will be Wednesday January 18th, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Life Remembrance Center in Minneota. Public visitation will begin two hours prior to the service. Burial will follow at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Cemetery in Taunton, MN. A luncheon will be held at the Minneota City Offices following the burial.  The Horvath Funeral Service in Minneota is handling the arrangements.

Louie was born on June 13th, 1953 to Donald and Emma (Noyes) Downing in Marshall, MN. He was raised on the family farm outside of Porter, MN and graduated from Minneota High School in 1972. Upon completion of high school he studied to become an electrician at Canby Vocational School. Louie was member of the Electrical Union and his job took him to locations all over Minnesota. Louie had been living on a farm outside of Porter just a half mile from the farm he grew up on. During his free time he enjoyed going to auctions and supporting his nieces and nephews at their activities. 

Louie died on January 13th, 2023 at Sanford Hospital Sioux Falls, SD  Left to cherish his memory are his sister Colleen (Kim) Tharp, nephew Jason Tharp, niece Lori (Stephen) Wong and their children Abigail, Elias, Elsie, Shiloh, and Hudson, sister Jeanie Pequin (Al), nephew Brett (Stef) Pequin, nephew Chris (Missy) Pequin and their child Adelyn, sister-in-law Joyce, niece Nacole (Jeff) Sussner and their children Lydia, Logan, Lyzah, and Libby, sister-in-law JoAnn, nephew Chad (Angela) Downing and their children Cody, Liberty, and Abbigail, niece Kayla (Tim) Antony and their children Hunter, Madison, Hayden, Chase, nephew Travis Downing (Kayla) and children Alex, and Teslynn , special friend Lori Hilleren and other relatives and friends.  Louie will be reunited in heaven by his parents, Don and Emma Downing, his siblings Richard “Fuzzy” Downing, Diane Downing, Greg Downing, two infant brothers, and niece Joyel Downing. 

Pall Bearers for Louie will be his nephews Logan Sussner, Cody Downing, Travis Downing, Hunter Antony, Jason Tharp, Brett Pequin, and Chris Pequin.
