MARSHALL (KMHL) – It’s a sad day for many around the Southwest Minnesota State volleyball program today.

Longtime, SMSU volleyball assistant coach Paul Soupir passed away over the weekend. According to a post on Soupir’s Caring Bridge page, Soupir passed away around 2 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

He had been a volunteer assistant on the SMSU Volleyball staff for 16 seasons. Prior to his time with Southwest Soupir had also been the girls basketball coach and volleyball coach at Tracy-Milroy-Balaton high school.

His Caring Bridge site notes Soupir had been battling non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma since September of 2019.

A post on his page, notes that he also had tested positive for COVID-19 last week.
