Lois Marie Goelz, age 83 of Redwood Falls, passed away Friday, January 15, 2021 at Carris Health – Seasons Hospice House in Redwood Falls of natural causes. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Redwood Falls. The service will be livestreamed on the Stephens Funeral Service Facebook page. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in the St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers.  Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, GUESTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK and practice social distancing guidelines. A 50% indoor occupancy restriction will be maintained.  Stephens Funeral Service – Redwood Valley Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Lois Marie Goelz was born March 22, 1937 to John Sr. and Marie (Kahnke) Goelz in Sherman Township, Minnesota. She was baptized, received her first communion and was confirmed at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Lois graduated from Morton High School. Later she pursued Catholic orders and had her first vows to become a nun, before being called to nursing. She continued her education at St. Joseph School of Practical Nursing in Mankato, where she received her nursing degree. She worked nine years as a nurse at Sleepy Eye, two and half years at New Ulm and 10 ½ years at the Glencoe Hospitals. In 1991 she moved to Redwood Falls, where she has resided since. Lois selflessly accepted the responsibility of taking care of her mother and siblings for many years. She was a lifetime member of St. Catherine’s Catholic Church. Lois loved to travel, having traveled to the western states and western Canada in1971. She then spent a week at San Lucas Toliman Mission in Guatemala in 1978 and later toured Ireland in 1981. She then explored many European countries such as: England, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Belgium and Switzerland in 1982. Lois enjoyed crocheting and cooking.

Lois is survived by her sisters Jeanette & Barbara Goelz of Redwood Falls and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings Celia Mead, Mary Braun, John Lawrence II, Deloris Goelz, Albert, Clem, Francis Goelz, Audrey Richter, Loretta Woelfel, and Lorraine Goelz.
