The funeral service for Lester Rasmussen, 79, of Marshall, will be Friday, May 6, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service, and interment will follow at the Lynd Cemetery. The Horvath Funeral Service is handling the arrangements.
Lester Rasmussen was born on November 9, 1942, to Theodore and Mary (Helvig) Rasmussen in Marshall, MN. Lester was the third child out of seven. He is survived by his siblings Lorraine Alleckson, Olaf Rasmussen, and Alfred Rasmussen. He was preceded in death by his siblings Mae Dietz, Mary Rasmussen, and Clifford Rasmussen. Lester was placed at Cambridge RTC from 1952 through 1973. He then moved to REM Marshall were he resided until his last day of life on April 30, 2022. In Lester’s younger years he loved his leather jacket, which he wore everywhere. As time went on his interests and hobbies included drinking his morning coffee – he loved his coffee! He also enjoyed the house’s animals, fishing, old western movies, Criminal Minds, van rides, church camp that he attended in South Dakota, and watching football/baseball games. Lester loved joking around with everyone, his smile could light up a whole room. REM staff and housemates became his family over the years, and they were there with him as he passed away.
