Leonard Lewis Schroeder was born on October 29, 1944 to parents William and Katherine (Konieczy) Schroeder. He was the third child of seven. Leonard was baptized, received first holy communion and confirmed at St. John Cantius church where he was a lifelong member.  Leonard started school in the Wilno parochial school, then went to middle school in Ivanhoe . He attended high school in the Ag program in Morris, Minnesota so that he could help on the farm after his brother, Gregory passed. Leonard was drafted by the U.S. Army in 1966 where he spent a year in Germany and a year in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his leadership as a Sergeant.  Leonard was united in marriage to Dorothy Scheleck on June 5th, 1971 at St. John Cantius church in Wilno, Minnesota. They were blessed with 3 children: Lisa, Lori and Kevin.  Leonard enjoyed his passion for farming for 38 years, worked at FSA for 31 years and was a crop loss insurance adjuster for 25 years. His hobbies included crossword puzzles, watching the Vikings, having a beer at the bar with friends, irritating people on Facebook and driving around the countryside to watch the crops grow. He also loved gardening; it was farming on a small scale.  Leonard was full of laughs and his generosity knew no bounds. He was a model father, a devoted and faithful husband, and a genuine friend to all who knew him until the very end.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy of 51 years; his children, Lisa (Kris) Lanus and Kevin (Julie) Schroeder; his grandchildren: Trever, Brittany, Ashley, Silas and Declan; his siblings: Theresa (Ray) Lacek, Dennis (Marilyn), Dorothy, Marie and Patrick (Beth) Schroeder and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gregory “Gore”, and his daughter, Lori.
