LeAnn Steffen, age 82, of Hendricks, MN, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2022 at the Hendricks Nursing Home with her family by her side. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Christ Lutheran Church in Hendricks, MN. Burial will be in the Hendricks City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 – 5 p.m. with a 5 pm Prayer service on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at the Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Hendricks, MN and will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church.
LeAnn Irene (Kragness) Steffen was born in Canby, MN on July 21,1940 to Harold and Hazel (Bromberg) Kragness. She was baptized on September 20, 1940 and confirmed on May 8, 1955 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Canby. LeAnn graduated from Canby High School and then moved to Minneapolis to attend the IBM School. She married Daniel Axelsen on September 3, 1960 and moved to a farm near Hendricks, MN. Three children were born to this union, Jon, Peggy and David. Daniel passed away on April 2, 1976. The family remained on the farm for a couple of years before moving into Hendricks. LeAnn worked as a secretary for First Lutheran Church (now Christ Lutheran), Singsaas Lutheran Church and at the Hendricks Community Hospital. She married Ben Olson on June 11, 1983 and moved to Avoca, MN. On May 5, 1994 Ben passed away. She remained in Avoca until she married Gerald Steffen on September 4, 2004 and then moved to Canby, MN. Gerald passed away on June 27, 2012. LeAnn remained on the farm until moving into Hendricks and then entered the Hendricks Nursing Home in July of 2020.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter and son: Peggy (Joe) Johnson, Hendricks, MN and David (Lisa) Axelsen, Hendricks, MN; six grandchildren: Blake Johnson, Kayla Erickson, Andy Knutson, Tommy Knutson, Dalton Axelsen and Derek Axelsen; five great grandchildren: Graham and Leslie Erickson, Julia, Calvin and Isaac Knutson; one brother Ron Kragness; one sister Janice Skatter; sisters-in-law: Ilona Efaw and Sandy Kragness and many nieces and nephews. LeAnn was preceded in death by parents, husbands, Daniel Axelsen, Ben Olson and Jerry Steffen; son Jon Axelsen, grandson Baby Danny Axelsen and one brother Jim Kragness.
