Kenneth Petersen, age 58, of Pipestone, Minnesota, died on Monday, February 15, 2021, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Graveside Memorial Services will be held at a later date at the Opdal Cemetery in Florence, Minnesota. In lieu of flowers, memorials or donations are preferred.
Kenneth Alvin Petersen was born to Pete and Beverly (Schandorff) Petersen in Tyler, Minnesota on August 9, 1962. He was baptized and confirmed at Hemnes Lutheran Church in Minneota, Minnesota. Kenneth attended school in Minneota before joining the National Guard following High School. Kenneth was united marriage to Judy Connelly on December 20, 1980, in Marshall, Minnesota. The couple made their home in Tracy, Minnesota, and spent 18 years together. They had 2 children, Julia and Christian. Kenneth was working at Solomon Automotive in Tracy where he became a certified technician. Following a divorce, Kenneth met Karen Schewe and they had a daughter, Destiny. Kenneth also spent a few years working at Jackpot Junction Casino in Morton, Minnesota. A few years later, Kenneth moved to Pipestone and began working as a mechanic for DeBoer in Edgerton where he was still employed. He spent the last 10 years in Pipestone with his current fiancé, Sabrina. Kenneth was an avid outdoorsman, active in hunting, fishing, camping, target shooting, and riding motorcycle. He also enjoyed scratch-offs and bowled league in Marshall for a time.
Kenneth Alvin Petersen died on Monday February 15, 2021, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He reached the age of 58 years, 6 months, and 6 days. Blessed be his memory.
Kenneth is survived by his three children, Julia Petersen of Pipestone, Christian Petersen of St. Paul, Destiny (Joshuwa) Taberski of Sioux Falls, SD; two grandchildren, Braxton Petersen, Avery Taberski; fiancé, Sabrina Peters of Pipestone; siblings, Peggy Petersen (Milton Voss) of Ghent, Pete (Colleen) Petersen of Arco, Kris (Mark) Gawarecki of Ivanhoe, Julie Petersen (John Urevig) of Ghent; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Beverly Petersen; brother, Knude Petersen; brothers-in-law, Don Connelly, David Connelly, and Bill Connelly.
