Funeral services for Kenneth Gilbery, 78, of Balaton, will be on Saturday, November 12, 2022, at 11:00 am at Marshall Efree Church in Marshall. Visitation will be held Friday, November 11, 2022 at Horvath Funeral Service in Balaton from 5:00 to 8:00 pm and continue one hour prior to the service at Marshall Efree Church in Marshall. The Horvath Funeral Service in Balaton is handling the arrangements.
Kenneth died on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD surrounded by his family.
Kenneth was born on April 13, 1944 to Fred and Evelyn (Stine) Gilbery in Pepin, WI. They moved to Lake Preston, SD where Kenneth attended school and graduated in 1963. After graduation, he joined the army for three years and served in the Vietnam War. After that he served in the Minnesota Army National Guard for 21 years. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Noorgaard on November 24, 1966 in California. In 1972, the couple moved to Lake Preston, SD and in 1978 they moved to Balaton, MN where they raised three children. Kenneth worked for the Balaton Cenex, Southwest Coaches, Ewing Trucking and then Schak Trucking before he retired. After retirement he enjoyed calling bingo for the Legion, watching westerns and spending time with his family.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Kathleen; children Curt (Candie) Gilbery, Corey (Rebecca) Holt-Gilbery, Carrie (Troy) Jones; grandchildren Cody (ReAnna) Gilbery, Kira Gilbery, Kennedy (Bryan) Manzey, Christine, Rodine, Shanda Jones, Brooklynn, Dalton Gilbery and Parker Gilbery; great grandchildren Jionni Odam, Raiden Gilbery, Finnick and Kylo Manzey; siblings long lost sister JoAne Gyser, Shirley (Vincent) Fleming, sister in law Trudi Gilbery, Jean (Jay) Melquist, David (Tammy) Gilbery and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Charles Gilbery; niece AnnMarie Gilbery; great grandson Nicklaus Odam and other friends and family.
He will be dearly missed by all.
