Rosemary Jean Walters was born August 23, 1928, in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The daughter of George and Anne (Blaha) Walters was baptized and confirmed in her youth in Iowa. Jean moved to a farm outside Lake Wilson with Her family and attended school in Balaton, Minnesota, graduating from high school with the class of 1946.  She was waitressing at the café in Ruthton when Mr. Paul Adams walked in and mentioned to his friend that he was going to “marry that woman” after laying eyes on Jean.  On February 24, 1951, Paul made good on his word and was married to Jean at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Marshall and raised their 3 children: Randy, Paulette, and Kelly. The couple spent 25 years together before Paul’s death in 1976. Jean worked as a homemaker before spending 20 years at J.C. Penny in Marshall.  As the store began to close, she found work maintaining the residence halls at Southwest Minnesota State University where Jean enjoyed working at the college for another 20 years prior to her retirement in 1999.  Jean was a long-time member of First Lutheran Church in Marshall, where she served in many roles over the years. She also volunteered as an election judge, blood drive assistant, after school crossing guard, and took the census of blue birds at Camden State Park for the State of Minnesota.  Jean was a proud member of the VFW and Legion Auxiliary and her enjoyments in life included needle point, Swedish weaving, tending to her flower garden, and traveling to see the grandchildren in Colorado.  Jean loved animals of all types but had a special place for birds and dogs and she did not mind chasing a pesky cat away or relocating a squirrel when needed.
