JACKSON (KMHL) – The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of a person who drowned Sunday in Pearl lake. 23 year old Dominique Jones of Fayetteville, North Carolina drowned when the paddle boat that three people were in began taking on water around noon. All three passengers entered the water in hopes of dragging the boat back to shore but as the paddle boat continued to sink, the passengers began swimming. After struggling, Jones went under the water and never resurfaced. Other boaters tried to aid in the rescue but were unable to locate the victim. Jones’ body was located at 2:55 Sunday afternoon in about 6 feet of water.
