MARSHALL – Highway 59 south of Marshall and Garvin is now open to traffic following the completion of a major concrete repair project, the Minnesota Department of Transportation announced today. All detours and barriers along the highway are expected to be removed by the end of the day.

The project, completed by Interstate Improvement, Inc., for an estimated $4.4 million, focused on repairing road surfaces on Highway 59 from Lyon County Road 6 to Highway 23 south of Marshall and from 201st Street to Lyon County Road 14 south of Garvin. Additional improvements included upgraded sidewalks and pedestrian crossings in Marshall to meet current ADA standards, specifically along Highway 19 between Highway 23 and Tiger Drive, as well as intersections with Susan Drive and Boyer Drive.
