MARSHALL, MN (KMHL) — The City of Marshall’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commission posted a press release on social media Monday about possible hate speech and vandalism being committed at Southwest Minnesota State University.
The release said, “The DEI Commission has recently been notified of the unacceptable acts that took place at Southwest Minnesota State University (SMSU), targeting a faculty member and the LGBTQ+ and Jewish communities. These recent acts of vandalism and hate speech have not only defaced property but have also intentionally sought to instill hurt and fear, leaving behind a feeling of uncertainty.”
The city and SMSU’s Public Safety are asking for any information regarding these incidents. If you have any information that could assist in the investigation, please contact the University or its Public Safety Office.
The City of Marshall’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Commission’s mission is to create and sustain an ongoing dialogue through which we explore inequities, share information, and be a change agent for race equity within our community.
More information will be released as it becomes available.
