Harvey continued his education at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN with his bachelor’s degree. He returned to the farm where he began his farming career.  Harvey was united in marriage to Gretchen Kelm on February 26, 1966 at Bethany-Elim Lutheran Church in Ivanhoe. He retired from teaching and they returned to Lake Shaokatan in 1997.  He was a member of Bethany-Elim Lutheran Church in Ivanhoe, MN. He was a life-long gardener, tender of soil. One of Harvey’s greatest joys was sharing his own grown apples or produce from his garden. He spent much of his life in close proximity to Lake Shaokatan and loved to fish, do wood workings and watch the sun set in the west from the dock. Harvey was a good, kind and smart man. He loved his family more than himself.
