SAINT PAUL, MN — Governor Tim Walz has ordered all flags in Minnesota to be flown at half-staff on Saturday in honor of Border Patrol Agent David “Chris” Maland of Blue Earth. Maland, 44, was fatally shot during an immigration vehicle inspection near the Canadian border on January 20. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with his death.

A visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Morris Nilsen Funeral Chapel in Richfield, followed by his burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Maland, a 1999 Fairmont High School graduate, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force that same year.
