DILWORTH (LEARFIELD): Governor Tim Walz said yesterday the discovery of the COVID omicron (OH-mih-cronn) variant in Minnesota is not a surprise, but the state needs to show caution and concern, and is learning more every day:

“It highlights one of the things that I pledged and with the help of the legislature on some of this of making sure that Minnesota has the best testing system in the country,” said Walz. “The reason that we found this first is because we do this better, California, us and Massachusetts.”

The governor says nothing has changed in the state’s approach to COVID and the way out of the pandemic is for people to get vaccinated and follow up with booster shots.
