Gene Alan Dressen was born on August 26, 1952, to James and Adeline (Budnick) Dressen in Tyler, Minnesota. He went on to be a life-long resident of Tyler and graduated from high school there in 1970. Following his education, he went on to his career as a mechanic at DeBoer Motors and later Bruenders in Tyler. He retired in 2016. Gene also volunteered with the Tyler Fire Department for over 30 years. Serving as a trusted mechanic introduced him to many local faces; Gene was known by all. His passion for cars extended to his free time as well. He loved attending car swap meets with his brothers where he could appreciate the variety of classic cars. On Monday, November 23, 2020, Gene died at his home at the age of 68 years, two months, and 28 days.
Though he was sometimes a man of few words, his family will remember how he could communicate just as well through a grunt or two. Gene knew the value of company and was always welcoming to his family and their friends. He also could appreciate a good “Hamm’s sandwich” now and then. He served as an example of good work ethic and did his best to continue his work as long as possible. Gene was a kind, thoughtful, and loving man.
Gene will be remembered by his children, Jason Dressen of Kalispell, Montana, Bryton Dressen of Garvin, Minnesota, and Nicolas Dressen (Aracely Diaz) and Zach Jacoby (Kaitlin Vos) of Marshall, Minnesota; siblings, Terry (Polly) Dressen, Harvey (Kathi) Dressen, Curt (Tonya) Dressen, Jack (Jennifer) Dressen, and Sally (Bob) Cauwels, all of Tyler, and Darrell (Pam) Dressen of Litchfield, Minnesota; grandchildren, Atticus and Delilah Dressen; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
