Mass of Christian Burial for Gary Hoflock, 67, of Marshall, will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. Visitation will be Friday, July 16, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. with a CCW Rosary at 5:00 p.m. and a Parish Prayer Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Horvath Remembrance Center in Marshall. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. at the Remembrance Center. Interment will take place at St. Clotilde Catholic Cemetery in Green Valley.
Gary passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2021, surrounded by family at his residence in Marshall, after a long 20 year battle with cancer. He was diagnosed with prostate cancer and under the care of hospice.
Gary Lee Hoflock was born on July 13, 1954, to Raymond and Betty (Pape) Hoflock. He was baptized, received first Communion and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Cottonwood. Gary was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He attended Cottonwood High School. He worked for Swift for three years, Schwan Food Company for 31 years and Avera Marshall Regional Medical Center for 16 years. He enjoyed visiting family and friends in Arizona. Gary also detailed cars for 30 years. On December 1, 1973, he was united in marriage to Mary Kay Labat at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. The couple had two children: Brian and Christina.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Kay, son Brian and daughter Christina, siblings Larry Hoflock of Sioux Falls, SD, Ron (and Karen) Hoflock of Marshall, Todd (and Jill) Hoflock of Sioux Falls, SD, Wesley (and Tammy) Hoflock of Lynd and Raymond (and Karen) Hoflock of Faribault and many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; Raymond and Betty Hoflock; brother Kevin and his wife, Tammy; in-laws Henry and Emerence “Rose” Labat, brothers-in-law Howard Serreyn and Randy Picht; sisters-in-law Janet Labat, Carol Labat and Judy Labat.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Avera Home Hospice.
