Gary Anderson, age 73, of Marshall, Minnesota, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall. Visitation is open to the public and will be held from 10:00 a.m. – Noon on Saturday, February 6, 2021, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. A Prayer Service is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. Interment will then follow at the Calvary Cemetery in Walnut Grove, MN. Occupancy limits and social distancing must be observed throughout all services. Masks are required at all public indoor gatherings.

Gary Vincent Anderson was born on March 24, 1947, in Tracy, Minnesota to Vincent and Lois (Hanson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and attended school in Walnut Grove. He graduated with the class of 1965 and shortly thereafter was united in marriage to Marilyn Friend. The couple spent 14 years together and had three children: Michael, Dean, and Angie.  Gary began his working life with his father at Vince Anderson Trucking in Walnut Grove. After moving and spending time in various places he settled in Colorado. He had a long career in scaffolding, shoring and heavy construction equipment sales. In the early 1990s Gary opened his own sales business, Anderson Equipment, which he operated until his retirement a few years ago.  Gary’s hobbies included hunting and fishing, or anything that got him outdoors. He enjoyed the annual elk hunt in Hotchkiss, Colorado, and walleye fishing at Lake McConaughy in Ogallala, Nebraska. He was an honorary member of the VFW and the Tri-City Elks in Louisville, Colorado, where he and his friends spent time sharing stories and memories.

He is survived by his children, Michael (Angela) Anderson of Hesston, KS, Dean Anderson of Littleton, CO, Angie (John) Carns of Watford City, ND; 6 grandchildren, Dalton Anderson, Zach Anderson, Porsha Martinez, Colin Dorman, Logan Carns, Hailey Carns; 3 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bruce (Nancy) Mix of Rochester, Larry (Kathy) Anderson of Brandon, SD, Julie (Larry) Gregg of Marshall; nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.  Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Lois Anderson, and significant other, Geraldine Stone.
