Garnie was born June 27, 1940, in Tyler, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles and Ruby (Hokins) Minett. She grew up on the family farm near Ruthon, Minnesota, with her three brothers — Virgil and Marvin, both older, and her much-younger brother, Arden “Ardie.” The family moved from the farm into the nearby town of Russell where she graduated from Russell High School in 1958.  Garnie married Larry Rund, and together they raised three children: Greg, Tammy, and Bruce. In 1977, she married Leslie “Les” Peterson, and their families grew together to include Les’s children, Mike, Wendy, and Melissa. During those years, Garnie attended Canby Technical College to build her computer skills and went on to work as a receptionist at the Braas Company in Eden Prairie for several years — a job she truly enjoyed. She made her home in Rockford, Minnesota, for several years, where she cherished her time with Les and her grandchildren.  Above all, Garnie will be remembered for her giggle — an infectious, one-of-a-kind laugh that everyone who knew her adored. She was happy by nature, warm to everyone she met, and carried a deep and abiding faith throughout her life. She loved to cook and bake, and she always took pride in looking her very best. She also had a soft spot for animals of every kind — and cats most of all.  Garnie’s giggle will be missed by all who were lucky enough to hear it.

Garnie is survived by her children, Greg (Shannon) Rund, Tammy Rund, and Bruce (Dawn) Rund; her grandchildren, Adam (Carrie) Escobedo, Marissa Montoya, Emily Rund, and Aiden Rund; her great-grandchildren, Lorelei, Kellen, and Catarina Escobedo; and her stepchildren, Mike Peterson and Melissa Peterson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Les Peterson; her parents, Charlie and Ruby Minett; her three brothers, Virgil, Marvin, and Ardie; her grandson, Aaron Rund; and her stepdaughter, Wendy Peterson.
