Hendricks Blood Drive

Donating blood during the winter is extremely important in order to maintain an adequate blood supply for the community.  Hendricks Community Hospital will host a community blood drive on Monday, February 17 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  The public will have an opportunity to donate blood to help local patients in the hospital during the winter months.  All blood donations will go directly to saving patients’ lives in the Hendricks area.  All who donate will receive a free t-shirt. “Donating blood is important in all season as they are all met with their own challenges.  The winter is a struggle [...]

Once each month, older Minnesotans can get in-person help from the Senior LinkAge Line® on a variety of topics by visiting a community site. Senior LinkAge Line staff and volunteers can help with understanding Medicare, comparing insurance options, finding ways to save money, filling out applications and much more. They can also help reporting fraud and abuse. Author Jim Heynen to Read Feb. 26 at SMSU

Author Jim Heynen will read from his work at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in Charter Hall 201 on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University. His appearance, sponsored by the Creative Writing Program, is part of the Visiting Writers Series at SMSU. Heynen is best known for his short stories. Many of these stories have been broadcast on NRP’s “All Things Considered,” and Minnesota astronaut George Pinky Nelson took a recording of Heynen’s stories for bedtime listening on his last space mission.
