The R-T-R high school and community blood bank will be hosting a community blood drive event on Wednesday, March 1st with two time slots, the first one being from 8:30am-11:30am, and the second being from 1pm-4:30pm. Donors can schedule their appointment by logging onto www.cbblifeblood.org, selecting "events" then "March 1st" and R-T-R high school. You can also call 605-331-3222. Walk-ins are welcomed but appointment is preferred.

On February 4th, there will be a 9 hole two person best ball Ice Golf Tournament hosted at Knudsen-Bosely park in Balaton. Registration will be at 10:30am, Lunch at 11am, and shotgun start will be at 12. This tournament is 50$ per team with a 75% payout. The fundraising proceeds will be going towards the Balaton Fire and Ambulance department. On Sunday February 5th the Lake Benton Community and Event Center will be hosting a Breakfast Fundraiser from 9am-12:30pm. All proceeds will be going towards the Lake Benton Fire Department. On Sunday February 12th from 11am-1pm there will be a Soup and Dessert Fundraiser for the Garvin First Responders. The menu will consist of: Chicken wild rice, chili, potato and ham soup, bread, dessert, and beverages. This will be free will donation with all proceeds going to annual operating expenses. To go options will also be available. This will all take place at Bitton's Roadhouse in Garvin.
