The Marshall Gymnastics team will be hosting an invitational at the Marshall middle school on Saturday, January 7th with the meet starting at 4pm. Marshall will be hosting 7 other teams all from Southwest Minnesota. Everybody is invited to come watch, and the team would love all the support they can get from our great community.

On Sunday, January 8th the Lake Benton Community Center will be hosting a Breakfast Fundraiser from 9am-1230pm. On Wednesday, January 18th the Vesta Lions Club will be hosting a Chili Feed. This event will go from 5pm-7pm. This is a free will donation and it will be ALL YOU CAN EAT!. The menu will include: Chili, cornbread, and juice. The event will take place at the Vesta Community Center.

The Avera-Tyler Hospital and Community Blood Bank will hold a community blood drive on Thursday, January 19th from 9am-12pm, and also 1:30pm-4:30pm.  You can schedule your appointment by logging into cbblifeblood.org and select "events" and January 19th or by calling 507-247-2213, walk-ins are also welcomed. Donors must be 17 years of age (16 with parent consent) weigh 110lbs or more and be in good general health the day of donation. The R-T-R high school and community blood bank will be hosting a community blood drive event on Wednesday, March 1st with two time slots, the first one being from 8:30am-11:30am, and the second being from 1pm-4:30pm. Donors can schedule their appointment by logging onto www.cbblifeblood.org, selecting "events" then "March 1st" and R-T-R high school. You can also call 605-331-3222. Walk-ins are welcomed but appointment is preferred.

On February 4th, there will be a 9 hole two person best ball Ice Golf Tournament hosted at Knudsen-Bosely park in Balaton. Registration will be at 10:30am, Lunch at 11am, and shotgun start will be at 12. This tournament is 50$ per team with a 75% payout. The fundraising proceeds will be going towards the Balaton Fire and Ambulance department. On Sunday February 12th from 11am-1pm there will be a Soup and Dessert Fundraiser for the Garvin First Responders. The menu will consist of: Chicken wild rice, chili, potato and ham soup, bread, dessert, and beverages. This will be free will donation with all proceeds going to annual operating expenses. To go options will also be available. This will all take place at Bitton's Roadhouse in Garvin.

On Sunday, February 12th the Echo Community Center will be hosting BINGO, a raffle ticket drawing, merchandise sales and more. Some of the raffle drawing prizes include: local area products, gift cards. meat bundles from Fertile Acreage Farm, Vicki's Camp and Country Jam Tickets and much more. This event is FREE WILL DONATION and there will also be a meal available for purchase. Doors will open at 11:30Am and Bingo will start at 12:15PM.
