Elaine Hamner, age 84, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Monday, June 8, 2020, at Heritage Lane in Marshall. Private Family Funeral Services will be Friday, June 12, 2020, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall. Interment will be in the Marshall Cemetery, Marshall, Minnesota. Future events for celebrating Elaine will be finalized once the current gathering limitations are lifted. A public visitation, open to the public, will be held later – date, time, and location yet to be determined. Please watch for future announcements.

Elaine Beverly (Berre) Hamner was born on March 22, 1936 in Clarkfield, Minnesota, to Eveard and Beatrice (Severson) Berre. Elaine moved with her family to Marshall early in life. She was confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Marshall and graduated from Marshall High School with the class of 1954.  Elaine was united in marriage to Carl A. Hamner on May 20, 1955, at First Lutheran Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Marshall, Minnesota. Elaine worked at the Social Security Office, the Lyon County Probation Office, and the State of Minnesota Department of Corrections. After nearly 40 years, she retired in August 1999.  Elaine was a talented artist spending time painting, doing ceramics, needlepoint, cross stitch, crocheting and especially knitting. Many family members and friends have items knitted by Elaine. She was a passionate person and had a genuine appreciation for gifts and kind actions sent her way. Her other enjoyments included fishing, visiting with friends, going to rummage sales, and time spent with family. She especially enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elaine Hamner died on June 8, 2020, in Marshall, Minnesota, at the age of 84 years, 2 months, and 17 days. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her three children, Steve (Janet) Hamner of Marshall, Karen (Paul) Geihl of Cottonwood, and Beth (Arlen) Gorden of Marshall; grandchildren, Aaric (Cheryl) Geihl of Marshall and Courtney (Lucas) Voorhees of Cottonwood; great-grandchildren, Ben, Sam, Stella; as well as many cousins and friends.  Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, Eveard and Beatrice Berre; husband, Carl; and her, brother John Berre.
