Edward “Ed” Andrew Carberry was born on November 20, 1941, in Fox Point, WI, to Edward and Sophie (Hologa) Carberry. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Marquette, then attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for his graduate degree. While in Madison, he met Linda Querry, and they were married July 22, 1967. Shortly after their marriage, the couple moved to Marshall, MN, where Edward taught Chemistry at the new Southwest State University.  In his free time, Ed made glass blown angels and was a collector of many things, including minerals and beer memorabilia. He did research abroad throughout his career, and he was proud of the lasting relationships he formed with colleagues. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time at his tree farm in Blackduck in Northern Minnesota. He also enjoyed cars and his dogs. Ed was someone who went all in on the things he loved.

Ed died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at his residence in Marshall. He is survived by his wife Linda of Marshall; son Dan (Kristen) Carberry, their daughters Kathryn and Allison; daughter Cristin Altepeter, her daughter Eden; as well as many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
