WOOD LAKE, MN — An Echo woman and teenage boy have died, and a Montevideo woman was injured after a two-vehicle collision near Wood Lake on Friday, according to the Minnesota State Patrol. At 8:02 Friday morning, a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo was traveling northbound on State Highway 274, and a 2024 GMC Acadia was traveling southbound on Highway 274. The Monte Carlo lost control on the snow and icy road, and the vehicles collided near the intersection with 190th Avenue. 

The driver of the Monte Carlo, 41-year-old Jean Elizabeth Hodgman, and her passenger, a 14-year-old juvenile male, both from Echo, died from injuries sustained in the accident. 

The driver of the Acadia, 44-year-old Stacy Lynn Timm of Montevideo, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to the Granite Falls Hospital. 

The Minnesota State Patrol says both fatal occupants were not wearing their seat belts.
