MARSHALL (KMHL) – It looks like a major winter storm is taking aim at southern Minnesota this weekend. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for several counties in the region as a narrow band of heavy snow is expected to hit the area Saturday night into Sunday.

Forecasters say heavy snow is possible Saturday night – with a total of 4-to-7 inches of snow expected in the Marshall area. According to the weather service, Marshall is in the range that has the greatest potential of seeing 6 inches of snow or more.

Forecasters say the weather is likely to impact travel conditions Saturday night and into Sunday.
