A private, family service for Dorothy Hoepner, 93, of Wood Lake will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wood Lake.  Interment will take place at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Wood Lake.

Dorothy May (Sander) Hoepner was born on February 25, 1927, in Swedes Forest Township, Redwood County, to Oscar and Amanda (Iverson) Sander on a farm north of Belview, MN.  She was baptized and confirmed at Rock Dell Lutheran Church north of Belview.  Dorothy attended District 5 Country School and graduated from Belview High School in 1945.  On May 12, 1946, she was united in marriage to Douglas Hoepner at Rock Dell Lutheran Church.  They lived on the family farm east of Wood Lake for 52 years where they raised their five children.  They both loved to travel which included trips to Hawaii, Alaska, Nova Scotia and Mexico.  They enjoyed spending many winters in Mission, Texas.  In August, 1998, Doug and Dorothy moved into Wood Lake.  In May, 2000, Doug suffered a stroke and passed away on April 15, 2007.  Dorothy loved to crochet, play cards, do puzzles, read and have coffee parties for her friends.

Dorothy died on Tuesday, November 24, 2020, at the Avera Granite Falls Health Center in Granite Falls.  She is survived by her children Larry (and Patricia) Hoepner , Phyllis Jamieson , Michael (and Teresa) Hoepner, Bruce (and Amy) Hoepner, Scott (and Wendy) Hoepner, ten grandchildren and their spouses and  26 great-grandchildren.   She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas, son-in-law Tom Jamieson,  great-grandson Nathan Hoepner and siblings Orvin Sander, Enola Grannes, Hildora Lecy, and Lloyd Sander.
