A private family service will be held to commemorate the life of DonnaMae Matthys, 86 of Marshall. Interment will take place at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Marshall. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Holy Redeemer School or Prairie Home Hospice. The Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements.
DonnaMae Susie (Wenker) Matthys was born on November 10, 1939, in Madison, MN. When she was young, the family moved to Minneota where DonnaMae graduated from High School. DonnaMae was introduced to Arthur “Art” Matthys at a wedding dance at Don’s Ballroom in Ghent. The couple was united in marriage on May 7, 1960, at St. Edward Catholic Church in Minneota. To this union were born children Lorri Marie and Lowell. The couple lived in Marshall and later Madison, SD, before returning to Marshall in 1969. In 1971, they purchased a Plywood Minnesota store that later became Floor to Ceiling. DonnaMae was active with the store and later dedicated time to help babysit her grandchildren. She had many interests including reading, crossword puzzles, cross stitch, black and white movies, baking (and eating) Belgian Cookies. DonnaMae also enjoyed the occasional trip to Mystic Lake Casino and wintering in Arizona.
After a lengthy illness, Donna died on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at the Prairie Home Hospice Lockwood House in Marshall. She is survived by her husband, Art Matthys of Marshall, daughter Lorri Marie Matthys of Willmar, son Lowell (Lori Ann) Matthys of Marshall, grandchildren Lucas Matthys, Leah (Kenny) Pesch, Logan (Lindsey) Matthys, Lesley (Jason) Winter, Lauren Matthys; great-grandchildren Karissa, Lennon, Lanie, Laekyn, Leon, and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings.
