The People’s Choice Awards aired last night. It was a refreshingly-lean TWO-HOUR award show, and it seemed like they only aired awards where the recipients were in attendance to receive them.
So they didn’t waste time showing the presentation of any of the FOUR awards Taylor Swift won . . . or Travis Kelce’s win for Athlete of the Year.
We also didn’t see winners like Jelly Roll, Bad Bunny, Margot Robbie, Nicki Minaj, Beyoncé, or Jennifer Lawrence.
We DID see Jennifer Aniston, who won Drama TV Star of the Year for “The Morning Show”. And in the process, she may have gotten TROLLED.
I don’t know who picked the walk-up music, but as Jennifer made her way to the stage, they played “Flowers” by Miley Cyrus: A song about being ALONE.
Which kind of tracks with the longstanding media narrative of Jen failing to meet traditional relationship and family goals.
Although maybe they meant it as a compliment, since it’s a defiant, empowering song.
Earlier in the show, Jennifer presented Adam Sandler with the People’s Icon Award.
He pretended that he had mistakenly believed he was winning “People’s” Sexiest Man Alive, and proceeded to read the speech he’d written for that.
