David Houselog, age 74, of Marshall, Minnesota, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at the St. Cloud Veteran’s Hospital. Memorial Services are at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall, Minnesota. Military Honors will follow and then a reception will be held for attendees at the funeral home. Visitation will be held from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, also at the funeral home. Arrangements are with the Hamilton Funeral Home in Marshall.
David Lloyd Houselog was born on June 16, 1949, in Pipestone, Minnesota. He was the son of Ronald and Lucille (Lange) Houselog. David was baptized as an infant and confirmed in his youth at the Methodist Church there and attended area schools, graduating with the Pipestone High School class of 1967. Following his graduation, David joined the United States Air Force and proudly served his country. He served honorably at the Lajes Air Base in Portugal and the Beale Air Force Base in California. David was proud to spend a year and a half working on the Blackbird SR-71s. Upon returning home, David continued his education at Minnesota West Community and Technical College and later Southwest Minnesota State University in Marshall. On June 7, 1974, David was united in marriage to Ms. Judith St. Aubin at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall. The couple made their home in Albert Lea for two years before returning to Marshall to start a family. David and Judy shared over 49 years of marriage together and raised 2 children, Lance and Crystal. David worked for Tradehome Shoes, Shopko, and JCPenny before spending over 19 years at Schwan’s Specialty Food Plant. Most recently, he was driving for Southwest Coaches until his recent retirement due to ill health. David worshiped at Grace Life Church in Marshall and was active in many bowling leagues. He could often be found playing music – David enjoyed playing the rhythm guitar in several bands with his son. He also was a dedicated baseball coach, and active on community softball teams.
David Llyod Houselog died peacefully on Tuesday, March 19, 2024, in St. Cloud, Minnesota. He had reached the age of 74 years, 9 months, and 3 days. Blessed be his memory.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Houselog of Marshall; 2 children, Lance Houselog (and Cindy Sheets) of Duluth, Crystal Johnson of Marshall; 7 grandchildren, Jacob Gravelle of Montreal, Canada, Adam Gravelle of Montreal, Canada, Xavier Gravelle of Montreal, Canada, Hanna Johnson of Marshall, Maximus Johnson of Marshall, Nora Johnson of Marshall, Ryder Callander of Marshall; siblings, Dawn (and Bill) Hayden Mose Lake, Roger (and Laurel) Houselog of Stapels, Clay (and Cheryl) Houselog of Henning, Lisa (and Rick) Nesvold of Fosston; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends. David was preceded in death by his parents, Ronald and Lucille Houselog, and an infant brother, Todd.
