Clarence Lietz, age 95, of Ivanhoe, MN passed away on Monday, October 12, 2020 at the Select Specialty Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00am on Friday, October 16th at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN with visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at the Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Cemetery in Ivanhoe, MN. Houseman Funeral Home-Birk Chapel is entrusted with the arrangements.

Clarence Benjamin Lietz was born on June 24, 1925, to parents Joseph and Margaret (Fier) Lietz. He was raised along with his brother, Donald, on their family farm near Ivanhoe, MN. He graduated in the Class of 1943 from Ivanhoe High School. On November 27, 1945, Clarence was united in marriage to Rosemary Lemker, his high school sweetheart. To this union, they were blessed with one son, Richard. Rosemary passed away in January, 1955. On September 25, 1957, Clarence was united in marriage to Leona Lacek. This union was blessed with a daughter, Donna, and a son, James. Clarence, Leona and their three children enjoyed life on the farm. Leona passed away in March of 2009 and Clarence was blessed to have their very happy marriage for 51 years.

Clarence enjoyed farming especially working with the tractors and other equipment throughout the years. In high school, he was a good athlete excelling in boxing and track. He also enjoyed being a semi-truck driver especially when he worked for Larry Sterzinger hauling grain and the years that he and Leona worked for Walmart in Bentonville, AR. Clarence and Leona greatly enjoyed dancing and were always one of the smoothest couples on any dance floor. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with his family along with watching all of the sports that his grandchildren participated in during their school years. Throughout his life, he also had a passion for working on jigsaw puzzles and followed the news & weather on TV, newspapers and magazines. Clarence was a life-long member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

Grateful for having shared Clarence’s life are his three children, Richard (Valerie) Lietz of Sioux Falls, SD, Donna (Les) Faulds of Sanger, TX, James (Kim) Lietz of Brookings, SD; his six grandchildren, Allisa (Troy) Wendland of Balaton, MN, Kristen (Wade) Heilman of Adel, IA, Evan (Cindy) Faulds of Lennox, SD, Justin (Hannah Peters) Lietz of Sioux Falls, SD, Ryan Lietz of Brookings, SD, and Nicole Lietz of Brookings, SD; his 9 great-grandchildren, Madelyn, Jaden and Mason Wendland, Cadence, Wyatt and Lily Heilman, Camden, Chase and Jalyn Faulds.; and his brother, Donald.

Clarence is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Margaret (Fier) Lietz, his first wife, Rosemary Lemker, and his beloved second wife, Leona Lietz.
