MARSHALL (KMHL) – The Marshall City Council set the preliminary levy at last night’s meeting. The council approved a 3.5% preliminary levy increase.

Council members are still hoping they will be able to reduce the increase over the next few months, several expressed concerns about the effects COVID-19 will have on the city’s budget.

The council has until the end of the year to approve the final levy for 2021, they can still vote the final levy lower than 3.5 percent, but they can’t increase it over that amount.
