MARSHALL (KMHL) – Plans to renovate the city municipal building in downtown Marshall are moving forward.

The Marshall City Council approved a $4.89 million base bid to the low bidder Brennan Companies of Mankato. Last week, Brennan submitted the low bid among three bidders for the project.

Council members also agreed to a lease agreement with Southwest Minnesota State University to be a temporary home to the city offices while the renovation project is underway.

According to a lease agreement with SMSU, the city will house a little over 9,000 square feet in SMSU’s Social Sciences building beginning in December. The lease agreement runs through June 1, 2021 and will cost around $138,000.
