WESTBROOK – A missing person near the city of Westbrook is believed to be found dead on Sunday, according to the Westbrook Police Department. On Saturday, law enforcement received a report of a missing 53-year-old man who was last seen in Westbrook on Thursday, February 15th. On Sunday, February 18th, tire tracks were located along 330th avenue along with parts of the missing person’s vehicle. Law enforcement believes the vehicle had turned off of 330th avenue, drove west through a field along a fence line, before striking a tree, causing the vehicle to ignite. The body of the driver was transported to the Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy and identification.
The case is still under investigation. More information will be released at a later time.
The case is being handled by the Cottonwood County Sheriff’s Office along with the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. Assistance was also provided by the Westbrook Police Department and Westbrook Fire Department.
