Beatrice Ann (Skoblik) Shemon will be greatly missed as she was always a strong pillar of family, friends, and faith.  She loved attending daily mass and group activities.  She was a faithful member of Our Lady of Victory church and servant of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through these three facets she gained her strength to live each day with a positive outlook, looking forward to the next one and not worrying about the past.  Beatrice was born June 25, 1927, in Granite Rock Township to Stephen and Gertrude (Koller) Skoblik.  Like her mother she could remember the life she lived up until the last day. If you took all the memories that she shared, you could write a book about it. She was the oldest of six children, grew up in the Lucan, MN area where she excelled in school and became a teacher at a country school.  Her first year’s teaching started by getting there early to get the wood stove going so the students had heat and then sending the older students out to get water for the day. Her classroom consisted of first through sixth grade students all in one classroom.  While still teaching she went back to college and obtained her teaching degree in 1976.  Beatrice retired after over 40 years of teaching, starting in the country school, then to Vesta and finally Wabasso Public Schools. She had many students remember her. Beatrice also loved sending cards to friends and family.  She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and they were never belated. Her latter years were spent at Cerenity Marian where she continued to attend daily mass and other activities. She was known for her joyful laugh and positive outlook which helped her meet many new people and make new resident feel at home.  Beatrice met her loving husband of 55 years, Eugene Richard Shemon. Eugene asked her to dance and that was the start of their story. And what a story it was. They wed on August 28, 1950, which was on a Monday as weddings were typically on the weekend back then. They lived in Lucan until 1962 and then bought a farm in Wood Lake where they spent the next 25 years.  They moved back to Lucan in 1987 and enjoyed getting together with family and friends. Their marriage was a testament of what marriage is – hard work, faith and faithfulness, forgiveness, respect, fun, love, and everything in between.  These are the characteristics that they taught their children and are passing down to their grandchildren and generations to come.

Beatrice and Eugene loved their family, and their family loved them.  Here is an account of their loving children: Gary (Nancy) Shemon, Jim (Bonnie) Shemon, Dorene (David) Mosher, Janell (Rodney) Block, Ron (Barb) Shemon, Arlyn Shemon (Colette Rosenau) Roxanne (Mark) Soderbeck, Sharyl (Tom) Kaase, Audrey (Barry) VanWinkle, Patrice (Dan) Weishaar, Dean (Kimberly) Shemon, Glenn (Rhonda) Shemon and Darrin (Kaylynn) Shemon.  Beatrice Ann Shemon was called home on Monday, November 20, 2023, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, MN. She was 96 years, 4 months, and 26 days of age. Beatrice is survived by 11 children, 35 grandchildren and 49 great grandchildren; 3 great, great grandchildren; sister Elaine Menke; brother Delbert Skoblik; many nieces and nephews, neighbors, and friends. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Eugene, two sons: Ron and Arlyn; and three grandchildren: Dawson, Jason, and Brittany; her parents; siblings Mike, Melvin and Norma.

Praise and glory to you Lord Jesus Christ, for you have called me home.
