Tim McGraw is the son of Tug McGraw, who played 19 seasons in Major League Baseball from 1965 to 1984 . . . so this is appropriate: Tim will headline the first-ever, all-day concert event at the legendary Field of Dreams field in Dyersville, Iowa on August 30th.  And he's doing it to pay tribute to his father . . . August 30th would've been his 81st birthday. Pre-sale tickets will be available through StubHub starting on Monday, and general sales will open next Friday.  It's unclear how many tickets will be sold. Three Times It Might Actually Make Sense to Ditch Your Resolution

2025-01-10T11:20:12-06:00January 10th, 2025|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Happy Quitter's Day!  The second Friday in January is when people are most likely to throw in the towel on their New Year's resolutions.  But here are three times when it might actually MAKE SENSE to give up on your goal . . . or at least reassess it.   1.  When you're motivated by the wrong reasons.  Sometimes, we pursue a goal just to prove other people wrong or soothe our own fear of failure.  But when a goal doesn't align with your core values and needs, it's hard to stay motivated. 2.  When your goal no longer resonates with [...]

L.A. Woman Helps Pets Displaced By California Wildfires

2025-01-09T10:09:46-06:00January 9th, 2025|Categories: KKCK|

The "L.A. Times" did a story on a woman named Annie Harvilicz, who's been taking in pets displaced by the Palisades Fire near Malibu.   She runs two vet clinics in the area, and one was empty.  So she posted on Facebook offering to take in any pets that had to be evacuated.   She says tons of people have reached out for help in the past two days.  But even more have reached out OFFERING to help.  (If you want to help out from afar, you can donate through her website, AnimalWellnessFoundation.org.)

2025-01-08T11:39:16-06:00January 8th, 2025|Categories: KKCK|

A guy in Maryland was driving last month when someone cut him off in traffic.  But no hard feelings, because he remembered their license plate number . . . used the digits on 10 different lottery tickets . . . and they all hit for $50,000.  So the jerk who cut him off helped him win half-a-million bucks.

A Theater Chain Is Doing a $5 “Bring Your Own Popcorn Bucket” Promotion

2025-01-08T11:01:44-06:00January 8th, 2025|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Popcorn buckets became a thing in 2024 . . . from the unintentionally sexual one given out for "Dune" to the popcorn CASKET offered at "Nosferatu" screenings.   But the Cinemark theater chain is taking things to the EXTREME.  On Sunday, January 19th . . . which just happens to be National Popcorn Day . . . they're running a BRING YOUR OWN BUCKET promotion.   You can bring in any container you want, as long as it's "clean and sanitized" and can hold popcorn, and they'll fill it for just FIVE BUCKS.  But if they decide it's not safe to use, they [...]

A guy in Illinois was redoing his parents' bathroom when he ripped out some drywall and found an old Christmas gift in the wall with his name on it.  They apparently hid it in 1978 and forgot. Side Note:  It turned out to be a set of toy planes called Thunder Jets that Matchbox made.

If you're looking for a gift for a coworker, it's PROBABLY not a good idea to surprise them with a pet turtle that may outlive them.   Someone just did a poll on holiday etiquette, and there are some fascinating results.  Here are the highlights:   1.  Leaving the price tag on a gift . . . 56% say it's unacceptable. 2.  Giving a child a toy gun as a gift . . . 40% say it's not okay. 3.  Giving a pet as a gift . . . 38% say unacceptable.  (Especially if it's a surprise and they might not [...]

This Is the Christmas Movie You Should Watch, Based on Your Zodiac Sign

2024-12-19T10:45:57-06:00December 19th, 2024|Categories: KKCK|

The "New York Post" created a list of Christmas movies with each zodiac sign in mind.  Here's which movie you should watch, based on your sign, and a short explanation:   Aries:  "A Christmas Story" . . . "[It] checks the boxes for Aries with a storyline that leverages triple dog dares, obsession, poor impulse control, and tacky lamps."   Taurus:  The classic 1947 version of "Miracle on 34th Street" . . ."Taurus folks make for natural skeptics.   Bulls will approve of [this movie], a meditation on capitalism, the burden of proof, and the beauty of believing."   Gemini:  "The Santa Clauses" [...]
