2025-02-05T10:19:47-06:00February 5th, 2025|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

The Super Bowl seems to be the best time to make STUPID bets on STUPID things.  Here are some of the bizarre "prop bets" you can make this year . . . along with the probability that they'll actually happen.   1.  Travis Kelce proposes to Taylor Swift after the game:  16.7% 2.  A coach or player will cry during the national anthem:  81.1%  (There's always at least one.) 3.  A quarterback catches a pass:  5.9%  (This one should be higher this year.  They don't call it the Philly Special for nothing.) 4.  The color of the Gatorade poured on the winning coach:  [...]

Forget “Soft Spaces” . . . Should We Bring Back Dangerous Playgrounds?

2025-02-04T11:02:26-06:00February 4th, 2025|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Some parents think that we coddle kids too much, and they're becoming too soft.  And in the Netherlands, they're trying to correct this by making playgrounds LESS SAFE.  Sort of.   They're NOT talking about leaving rusted-out slides . . . putting a pit of spikes below the monkey bars . . . or adding more parking for windowless vans.  (???)   A new policy proposal in the Netherlands would increase kids' access to open outdoor play areas to "climb, play with water and fire, sword-fight with sticks, build with hammers, rope, or knives, and wrestle and fall."   It's not [...]

Netflix is rebooting "Little House on the Prairie".  The original series told the KIND OF true story of the Ingalls family, who lived on a farm in Minnesota in the late 1800s.   It was loosely based on the books of Laura Ingalls Wilder, and it ran from 1974 to 1983.   A Netflix exec says the new version will be, quote, "part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale, and part origin story of the American West."   There's no word yet on casting or a start date.   The original series streams on Peacock, where people watched more than [...]

Will Jason Kelce Stick to His Vow to Root for the Eagles?

2025-01-29T10:04:46-06:00January 29th, 2025|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Two Sundays from now, Jason Kelce is putting the CITY of Brotherly Love over ACTUAL brotherly love.  Because he's rooting for the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl over his brother Travis and the Chiefs.   At least that's how he was feeling about it a year ago.  During a March 2024 edition of the "New Heights" podcast, the idea of a Chiefs / Eagles Super Bowl came up.   And Jason said, quote, "I will root for the Eagles of course because I will always be an Eagle first and foremost."   After Travis called B.S., Jason said, quote, "I'll also root for [...]

Egg prices are one thing, but when they mess with our streaming costs, THAT'S when we riot.  (???)   And the price of Netflix is going up for the first time since October of 2023.  Even the ad-supported plan is being hiked, from $6.99 to $7.99.   The standard ad-free tier is jumping by $2.50, from $15.49 to $17.99.  And the premium plan is going from $22.99 to 24.99.   The cost of adding an extra member to a primary account is going up too, from $7.99 to $8.99.   Netflix says, quote, "As we continue to invest in programming and [...]

2025-01-21T11:03:49-06:00January 21st, 2025|Categories: KARL, KARZ, KKCK, KMHL|

Most of the U.S. is dealing with serious cold weather right now.  So "USA Today" put together a list of six things you shouldn't leave in your car when it's below freezing out.   1.  Aerosol cans.  They can explode if they get too cold. 2.  Canned food.  It can make the food inside expand, and cause tiny cracks where bacteria gets in.  The USDA says to toss any canned food that swells from freezing.  Even if it doesn't, they suggest tossing it just to be safe. 3.  Eggs.  Don't leave them in the car after you get groceries.  If they [...]
