Anne R. Hansen, age 91 of Westbrook formerly of Canby, passed away Saturday, May 1, 2021 at Good Samaritan Society in Mountain Lake. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook with a livestream on Stephens Funeral Service Facebook page. Visitation will be 5:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 4 at THE CHURCH. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at church on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Westbrook Cemetery. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, guests will be required to wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines. Stephens Funeral Service – Westbrook Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Anne was born February 10, 1930 to Tom and Marie (Onken) Huls at the family farm in Jackson County, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Anne attended District 59 country school for eight years. She lived on her family farm until she was united in marriage to Vernon George Hansen on June 25, 1955 at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. From 1955-1965 the couple worked for Vernon’s mother in Dundee. They then rented a farm in Cottonwood County from 1965-1971. They bought their first farm in Lincoln County near Canby in 1971. Anne and Vernon decided to sell the farm in 1989 and move to Westbrook. After renting a home for a year, Anne and Vernon then purchased the home where Anne has resided ever since. Anne had many jobs throughout her life such as farming and helping others crochet and make quilts for mission. Anne loved children, helped raise her grandchildren and taught kindergarteners at church for eight years. Anne was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was involved in ladies aid and mission action. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting, sewing, making quilts, and flower gardening. Anne loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was very proud to have the titles of Mom and Grandma.
Anne is survived by children: LeRoy (Bev) Huls of Mesa, AZ and Cindy Lou (Paul) Glasser of Westbrook; grandchildren: Cheri Glasser of Sleepy Eye, Reid (Faith) Glasser of Watertown, Steven Glasser of Grand Junction, CO, Brian Glasser of Watertown, Erica Huls of Pasadena, CA, Ryan (Amanda) Huls of Denver, CO, and Anna Tremmel of Mesa, AZ; great grandchildren: Tristan, Emrys, Hannah and Hailey; siblings: Edward Huls of Jeffers, Lorraine Rindfleisch of Minneapolis and Ruth (John) Smith of Windom; sisters-in-law: Jean Pyles of West Virginia, Daisy Hansen of Canby, and Anne Marie Hansen of Morris; and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Vernon, two sisters Irene Froderman and Evelyn Easterday, sister-in-law Beaulah Huls, and brother-in-law Thomas Easterday.
