Andrew “Andy” Lacek, age 86, of Canby, MN passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 in the Sylvan Court Nursing Home in Canby.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 19, 2021 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby with Fr. Mike Doyle celebrating.  Burial will be in the St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery, Canby.  Visitation will be from 3  – 5 p.m. with a 5 p.m. Prayer Service with Rosary to follow on Sunday, April 18th at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby.  Visitation will resume Monday one hour prior to the service at the church. Houseman Funeral Home, Birk Chapel in Canby, MN is entrusted with the arrangements.

Andrew “Andy” Lacek was born March 5, 1935 to Mike and Clara (Sik) Lacek on the family farm in Lincoln County, Minnesota. Andy attended country school near Hendricks, Minnesota. Following his education, he helped on the family farm, as well as helping the neighbors. Andy served in the United States Army from January 1955-1957, where he served in Fort Bliss, TX, Ford Ord, CA, Fort Lewis, WA and Fort Poke, LA. He served as a prison guard and drove a staff car for a One Star General.  Upon his honorable discharge from the Army, he returned to farm near Clear Lake, SD from 1958 to 1964. Andy also attended Technical School in Lincoln, NE.  On June 21, 1960, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Bach at the St. Leo Catholic Church in St. Leo, Minnesota. After living near Clear Lake, SD, they moved to Canby, MN where he worked for Cenex Farmers Co-op for 27 years. Following an injury at work, Andy retired in 1991.  Andy was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Canby. He enjoyed volunteering at Sylvan Court Nursing Home for many years.

Andy passed away Thursday, April 15, 2021 at the Sylvan Court Nursing Home at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 10 days.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn Lacek, Canby, MN; six children: Donna (Adrian) Crommert, Canby, MN, Charles (Roze) Lacek, Centerville, VA; Barbara (James) McLain, Canby, MN, Mary (Thomas) McLaughlin, Osakis, MN, Nancy (Anthony) Beltz, Altoona, WI and Patty Lacek, Eau Claire, WI; 10 grandchildren: Christopher (Amanda) Lacek, Michael (Liz) Lacek, Amy (Phill) Monson, Kristin (William) Amundson, Kevin McLain, Curtis McLain, Ethan McLaughlin, Lydia McLaughlin, Natalie Beltz and Katelyn Beltz; 12 great grandchildren: Landon, Bianca, Justice, Andrew, Jakiye, Annie, Jenna, Winston, Charlotte, Brayden, Bryleigh and Brodie; one brother, Walter (Josie) Lacek and one sister, Janet Binnebose.  Andy was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Lacek, grandson, Alan McLain, parents, Mike and Clara Lacek, two brothers: Floyd and Daniel Lacek and one sister, Betty Rasmussen.
