Albert J. Van Dyke, age 86, of Pipestone, Minnesota died peacefully on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Avera McKennan Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the First Baptist Church in Lake Benton, Minnesota. Funeral service will be Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the parking lot of church. Please bring a lawn chair if you are planning to attend the funeral service. Interment will be in Memorial Hill Cemetery outside of Lake Benton.  Per MN Executive Order, masks will be required and guidelines for social distancing and capacity are to be observed. Albert John Van Dyke was born on July 27, 1934, in Rock Rapids, IA to Dries and Mary (Kracht) Van Dyke. His family moved to Ward, SD, in 1938 where he attended a one room country school house through the eighth grade. After his education, he helped his dad on the farm as well as other area farmers. On November 1st, 1958, Albert was united in marriage to Lorraine Brands in Elkton, SD. In the early years of their marriage, Albert and Lorraine lived north of Ward, SD, and later moved to the family farm in Altona Township, Pipestone, MN. Their marriage was blessed with eight children. Albert left his earthly home for eternity on October 2nd, 2020, at the age of 86, while at the Avera Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD, after a farm accident.

Albert knew the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, was baptized by immersion and became a member of the First Baptist Church of Elkton, SD, where Albert and Lorraine attended for several years. They were later members of Prairie Winds Baptist Church and currently Albert was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lake Benton, MN. Over the years, Albert served on church boards as well as a school board member at the Verdi Public School, Verdi, MN, and also had other miscellaneous jobs alongside his farming during some of his later years. Albert enjoyed being on the farm, spending time with his family, family reunions, his church family, and you would often find him enjoying the great hymns of the faith. He had many favorites.

Albert is lovingly remembered by his 8 children, Ruth (Myron) Miller of Blue Earth, MN; Marlin Van Dyke of Tyler, MN; Dianne Van Dyke of Mountain Lake, MN; Marlys (Brian) Moser of Tyler, MN; Donna (Richard) Morris of Pipestone, MN; Jerry (Heather) Van Dyke of Mountain Lake, MN; Alvin Van Dyke of Mountain Lake, MN; Betty Blom of Pipestone, MN; ten grandchildren: Alayna (Scott) Wiyninger of Osseo, MN; Justin (Emily) Miller of Fairmont, MN; Trevor Miller of Blue Earth, MN; Robin (Alan) Arends of Raymond, MN; Kyle Moser of Lake Benton, MN; Eric (Jennifer) Moser of Mitchell, SD; Jared Van Dyke of Mountain Lake, MN; Kamile Van Dyke of Yankton, SD; Kody (Maggie) Blom of Lake Benton, MN; Braden Blom of Pipestone, MN; currently 14 great grandchildren; two siblings: John Van Dyke of Slayton, MN; and Henrietta DeVriend of Sioux Falls, SD. Albert was preceeded in death by his parents, Dries & Margaret (Kracht) Van Dyke; his loving wife Lorraine Van Dyke; 10 brothers: 2 infants (Gerrit and John), Al, Bert, Fred, Gerrit, Bennie, Henry, Peter, and Andrew; 4 sisters: Jeanette Van Dyke, Hilda Van Dyke, Margaret DeRuyter, and Bertha Golic; and one great grandson, Andrew Wiyninger.
