MARSHALL (KMHL) – MnDOT will begin working on resurfacing two major highways in the Marshall area on Monday.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation announced that work to resurface portions of U.S. Highway 59 and State Highway 19 in Lyon and Yellow Medicine counties.

The project includes 17 miles of U.S. Highway 59 north of Marshall and resurfacing one mile of State Highway 19 from the intersection of Highways 19 & 23 to 280th avenue – east of Marshall.

According to MnDOT, the project will be completed under traffic and that no detour will be required. Officials say motorists should expect lane and/or shoulder closures though and short delays as flagging operations will take place in areas where lanes are closed.

MnDOT says the work on the $2.7 million project is being performed by Duininck Brothers of Prinsburg and will be completed by mid-September.
