SAINT PAUL, MN — Minnesota’s Click It or Ticket campaign started on Monday, May 19 and goes until June 1, with extra law enforcement on roads to promote seat belt and car seat use.

The Department of Public Safety’s Office of Traffic Safety (OTS), with funding from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, is targeting unsafe driving habits as part of the Toward Zero Deaths initiative.

In 2024, 106 of Minnesota’s 476 traffic deaths involved unbelted occupants. From 2019 to 2024, nearly one-third of children ages 0–9 in crashes were not properly secured.

Minnesota law allows officers to stop and ticket unbelted drivers and passengers. Updated child safety rules now set age-based requirements for car seats, boosters, and back-seat travel.
