Mass of Christian Burial for Evangeline Alice “Vange” Simonsen will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 21, 2020, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Marshall.  Masks are required and social distancing guidelines will be followed.

Evangeline Alice (Hornickel) Simonsen was born on October 6, 1931, in Heron Lake, MN, to Jacob and Dora (Wagner) Hornickel.  She grew up in Heron Lake and graduated from Heron Lake High School.  In 1950, Vange was united in marriage to Dale Hoffmeister.  To this union were born children Carol and Michael.  Dale died in 1954 and Vange cared for her young children.  In 1960, she was united in marriage to Clarence Simonsen.  Vange worked for a time at the bank in Heron Lake, and later as a bookkeeper for Peterson Music in Marshall.  She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing dominoes and cards.  Her faith was very important to her.  She was an active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church and was very devoted to the Rosary.  Vange moved to the Minneota Manor in the spring of 2020 and recently moved to Sedalia, MO, to be closer to her daughter, Carol.

Vange died on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the Loving Arms Memory Care in Sedalia, MO at the age of 89.  She is survived by daughter Carol (and Bill) Turner of Sedalia, grandchildren Andrew (and Bethany) Turner and Nicholas Turner, great-grandchildren Charlie and Graham, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands Dale and Clarence, son Michael and 5 sisters.
