ST. PAUL, Minn. – 3M’s Scotch® Magic™ Tape has been named the winner of the first-ever “Coolest Thing Made in Minnesota” contest, an initiative by the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce and BMO. The announcement was made at the 2024 Manufacturers’ Summit, where industry leaders gathered to celebrate Minnesota’s manufacturing innovation.

The contest showcased the creativity of local manufacturers, with the top four finalists entering a public voting round. Scotch® Magic™ Tape, invented in 1961 and a staple in homes and offices worldwide, emerged as the public’s favorite, praised for its reliability and near-invisible appearance.

The other finalists included Action Manufacturing’s Action Trackchair, Midwest Floating Island’s National Aquarium Wetland, and Red Wing Shoe Company’s Beckman Boot.

Doug Loon, President of the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, highlighted Minnesota’s innovation, saying, “This contest showcases the diverse and inventive spirit of our manufacturing sector.”
