REDWOOD FALLS (KMHL) – National Weather Service officials have confirmed that three tornadoes hit southwest Minnesota last Thursday.

Weather officials say the storms developed Thursday afternoon – some grew into supercells as they moved southeast. The storms caused several reports of large hail, damaging wind and a few tornadoes in the region.

Officials say preliminary damage surveys identified three tornadoes.

According to the National Weather Service, an EF-1 tornado touched down between Redwood Falls and Wabasso. Reports to the weather service indicated some instances of tree and structural damage in the area.

Weather service officials also say an EF-0 tornado touched down in Brown County near Leavenworth and also an EF-0 tornado touched down southeast of Godahl.
