UNDATED (LEARFIELD) – There is little doubt the troubles at the Minnesota Department of Human Services will continue to be a hot topic during the upcoming state legislative session.

What lawmakers ultimately decide to do with the department will have a direct impact on county governments, and that is why the Association of Minnesota Counties wants to have a voice in the decisions.

Executive Director Julie Ring says they’ve already met with new commissioner Jodi Harpstead a number of times.

“She has been very open to hearing about our concerns and I’m really hopeful that we’ll be able to work together jointly in the session,” said Ring.

The Association of Minnesota Counties holds its annual conference in St. Cloud next week.
