Bill died unexpectedly at his residence in Marshall on Sunday, January 23, 2022.
Bill was born on October 7, 1947, in Marshall, to Walter and Anne Wood of Russell. He grew up with two older brothers and an older sister. Bill’s love for hunting and fishing started at an early age. He had a lake right across the road to perfect his cast and was always on the hunt for that monster walleye. Bill graduated from Russell High School and enrolled in the inaugural class of the Auto Mechanic program at Canby Vo-Tech School. He graduated in May of 1967. Bill began his career at Lutz Motors and then moved to Tholen Auto Sales which later became Kruse Motors. He tried retirement but soon realized he was too much of a people person to be home all of the time. He needed something to do when the fish weren’t biting so he worked part-time at Napa, then Carquest. Bill lived for that first ripe tomato slice on a burger every summer and took great pleasure in seeing his great-granddaughter’s smiles.
Bill married Sherlynn (Danielson) on November 2, 1968. The couple made their home in Marshall for over 53 years. He is survived by wife, Sherlynn and their two children: Jonathan (and Kim) Wood and Jennifer Wood plus five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a third due in June. Also survived by many beloved nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Marvin and Dennis, sister Melva and nieces Joyce and Judy.
He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
