I get why the parents would be upset here.  Resistance training like this will only make the kid faster long-term . . .

 

A mom went looking for legal advice on Reddit after she found out a daycare employee put ankle weights on her two-year-old to slow him down.

 

She only found out because she showed up early last Friday to pick him up.  An employee claimed they had to use them to protect other kids.

 

He’s a little bigger than some of them, but he’s never hurt another kid or been aggressive in any way.  They claimed it was no big deal, and said they’d done it once before with another “big kid.”

 

A few child development experts weighed in in the comments and said it’s definitely NOT okay to use ankle weights on a toddler.

 

They said to immediately file a complaint with the Department of Children and Family Services.  The mom is also considering a lawsuit.
