Mass of Christian Burial for Victoria “Sis” Thooft, 86, of Marshall, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.  Interment will take place at St. Dionysius Catholic Cemetery in Tyler.  The Horvath Funeral Service in Marshall is handling the arrangements. 

Victoria “Sis” DeBaere was born on March 5, 1936, to Edward and Pauline (VanDenBroeke) DeBaere on a farm in Ghent, MN.  She attended Catholic School in Marshall and was confirmed in the Catholic faith on June 11, 1949.  Victoria was united in marriage to Ernest E. Thooft on September 17, 1955, at St. Eloi Catholic Church in Ghent.  Following their marriage, they lived on the family farm by Tyler.  Seven children were born to this union.  Victoria later resided at Boulder Estates.  Victoria was a member of the St. Dionysius Catholic Church in Tyler and was active in many of the church groups and functions.  She enjoyed cooking, baking (especially her Belgian Cookies) sewing baby blankets for grandbabies, polka dancing and spending time with her children.

Victoria passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Avera Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall.

She is survived by her four sons: Randall (Laureen) of Balaton, Robert (Melanie) of Tyler, Ronald (Pam) of Russell and Butch (Kayleen) of Brookings, SD; three daughters:  Rita (Charles) Klukas of Russell, Rose (Todd) Draper of Marshall, and Rhonda (Criss) Newton of Brookings, SD; 23 grandchildren and 47 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by Ernest Thooft, grandson Rustin Thooft, granddaughter Jodi Pries, great-grandson Theo Paluch and eight brothers and sisters.
