Verdina Violet (Bahn) Molstad was born on May 13, 1922, in Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, to parents David and Esther (Blazer) Bahn. She attended the Parochial School of St. Luke’s and graduated from Wood Lake High School as the class valedictorian. Following high school, Verdina attended St. Cloud State College for about one year and then moved to Minneapolis where she worked at Honeywell with her twin sisters. Verdina returned to the family farm after a couple years and worked for North Star Insurance in Cottonwood, a job she would keep for 35 years. She was married to Weldon Koch, a marriage fated to be short lived as he died of a heart attack one Easter Sunday, leaving Verdina a widow for several years before she met Bob Molstad in early 1970. The couple were married just a few months after meeting in May of the same year and made their home in Cottonwood. Bob and Verdina were married for 53 years and were seldom apart. Bob and Verdina moved to Boulder Creek until Verdina suffered a fall, causing her to move to Avera Morningside Health Center where she passed away on Wednesday, November 1st, at the age of 101 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, David and Esther Bahn; first husband, Weldon, and five siblings.
Verdina is survived by husband, Bob; brother, Dennis (Doris), nieces, nephews, and many friends. Blessed be her memory.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, November 7th, at 12:30 PM at Living Word Lutheran Church in Marshall, followed by the funeral service at 1:30 PM. Private interment will be in Christ Lutheran Cemetery, Cottonwood.
